Abstract
A principal novidade desta invenção é permitir a desfosforação e dessulfuração simultânea de ligas com teores de manganês de 5% a 85% sem que haja perda de manganês por oxidação, pois o processo é conduzido sob condições de baixo potencial de oxigênio. Para aços ao manganês (tipo hadfield), após o tratamento de dessulfuração/desfosforação, a concentração de carbono final, determinada pela decomposição do principal agente desfosforante (carbureto de cálcio), é controlada para situar-se dentro da faixa de especificação desejada.
