É descrita uma síntese para a preparação de materiais de polímeros catiônicos com uma matriz semi-sintética, tendo características de superabsorção para água e soluções salinas. Mais particularmente, são descritos derivados catiônicos de celulose tendo características de superabsorção que são obtidas a partir de substratos de celulose que são reagidos com um excesso de um composto de amônio quaternário em um meio alcalino.
