Abstract
Uma composição de vidro capaz de ser fiada em fibras tem os seguintes componentes, expressos em porcentagem em peso: SiO~ 2~ - 66 a 73; Al~ 2~ O~ 3~ - 0,85 a 5; R~ 2~ O(=Na~ 2~ O+K~ 2~ O - 14 a 17,5; CaO - 6,5 a 12; e SiO~ 2~ +AlO~ 3~ - 69 a 74. A composição é livre de ácido bórico e, conseqúentemente, evita as dificuldades de poluição associadas a este componente, todavia pode ser utilizada em fiadeiras a alta temperatura com a finalidade de produzir fibras duráveis.
