Abstract
Discos maciços de óxido de polietileno são encadeados em cruz por meio de radiação para instalação de memória viscoelástica. Os discos são perfurados com uma agulha, aquecidos, esfriados e a agulha removida, para formarem discos contendo um orifício de escoamento em cada um, os quais, ao entrarem em contato com a água, reverterão a discos maciços. Quando usado como uma válvula de controle de fluxo com memória em um dispositivo de injeção convencional, um disco com um orifício de escoamento feito como acabou de ser descrito produzirá uma seringa com uma capacidade de auto-destruição, descartável. Ao ser o disco (16) inserido em um retentor (10) no canal de escoamento do dispositivo de injeção, uma droga/vacina pode ser aspirada para dentro da seringa e então expelida por um tempo pré-selecionado de menos de 10 minutos, antes de a água na droga/vacina fazer com que o orifício de escoamento no disco se feche, revertendo então o disco à sua forma maciça devido à sua memória viscoelástica.
