Abstract
Uma composição repelente de insetos é descrita, a qual inclui um repelente de insetos tal como o p-mentano-3,8-diol e uma quantidade sinérgica de um acetal da fórmula (2). Um método para formar uma composição preferida também é descrito, no qual o citronelal é submetido a uma reação de ciclotização pelo ácido para produzir uma mistura impura do p-mentano-3,8-diol e acetal. A mistura impura é submetida à destilação fracionada para remover uma fração com ponto de ebulição baixo e para, consequentemente, produzir uma fração restante que constitui uma composição preferida.
