Abstract
Um processo para oxidar celulose envolve reagir a celulose com uma solução de dióxido de nitrogênio em um solvente perfluorcarbono. Em formas de realização preferidas, o solvente tem um ponto de ebulição na faixa entre cerca de 30°C e 100°C, a concentração em dióxido de nitrogênio na solução está na faixa entre cerca de 2% e 12% em peso, e os reagentes são mantidos a uma temperatura entre cerca de 25°C e 60<198.C, durante um tempo de reação de, pelo menos, cerca de 7 horas.
