Proporciona-se um agente farmacêutico para uso no tratamento de inflamação, em um indivíduo propenso a e/ou experimentando uma resposta inflamatória excessiva como um resultado de infecção com um agente infeccioso e/ou exposição a um alérgeno e/ou exposição a um fator ambiental, em que o agente farmacêutico compreende um agente para prevenir, obstruir, modular ou reduzir: (a) a produção, atividade e/ou efeito de uma ou mais citocinas; e/ou (b) a funcionalidade de uma ou mais células que são alvos para as citocinas; e/ou (c) um efeito patológico causado por células produtoras e/ou ativadas pelas citocinas.
