Uma composição nutriente ou medicinal para administração aos ruminantes, que inclui um núcleo de uma ou mais substâncias biologicamente ativas revestidas com um filme de poliuretano, com outro revestimento com um "intermediário" a base de cera é apresentado. Esse revestimento a base de poliuretano/cera é resistente às condições do rume, mas irá liberar a(s) substância(s) biologicamente ativa(s) no abomaso e subsequente trato digestivo do animal ruminante.
