COMPOSTOS PURINA E MÉTODOS DE USO DOS MESMOS. A presente invenção refere-se a Compostos Purina; composições compreendendo uma quantidade eficaz de um Composto Purina; e métodos para redução da taxa de metabolismo de um indivíduo ou proteção do coração de um indivíduo contra dano miocardial durante cardioplegia; ou pra tratamento ou prevenção de uma doença cardiovascular, um distúrbio neurológico, uma condição isquêmica, uma lesão por reperfusão, obesidade, uma doença debilitante, diabetes, um distúrbio proliferativo celular, um distúrbio de pele, uma lesão induzida por radiação, uma ferida ou uma doença inflamatória compreendendo administrar uma quantidade eficaz de um Composto Purina a um indivíduo com necessidade dele.
