São revelados compostos de fórmula (I), em que R^1^ ,R^4^ ,HET- 1 e HET-2 são da forma descrita na especificação, e seus sais e pró-drogas, que são ativadores de glicoquinase (GLK) e são desta forma usados no tratamento, por exemplo, de diabetes tipo 2. São também descritos processos para preparar compostos de fórmula (I).
