Formulações farmacêuticas e métodos de produzir e de usar as mesmas são descritos e reivindicados. As formulações são dispersões de fosfolipídeos e um ou mais compostos farmacologicamente ativos, seus sais farmaceuticamente aceitáveis, ou suas pró-drogas. Em modalidades específicas, os compostos farmaceuticamente aceitáveis são ansamicinas e a formulação total está substancialmente destituída de triglicerídeos de cadeia média e longa.
