A presente invenção refere-se a um aparelho aperfeiçoado e métodos de modulação de luz espacial que utilizam cavidades ópticas (200; 1004; 1104; 1202; 1606) com superfícies refletoras tanto frontal (202; 1010; 1405; 1610) como traseira (204; 1012; 1406; 1612). As regiões transmissoras de luz (206; 1019; 1116; 1222; 1616) são formadas na superfície refletora frontal (202; 1010; 1405; 1610) para modulação espacial da luz.
