Um painel lateral extensível (10) para uso em artigos descartáveis como uma fralda (1), o mencionado painel compreendendo uma primeira borda lateral longitudinal (11), uma segunda borda lateral longitudinal (12), uma primeira borda lateral de topo (13) e uma segunda borda lateral de fundo (14), o painel lateral compreendendo uma primeira camada (30) de um material extensível (22) tendo uma borda lateral de topo (3 Oa) e uma segunda camada (31) de um material extensível (22') tendo uma borda lateral de topo (31 a), a mencionada segunda camada (31) sendo superposta à mencionada primeira camada (30) para prover pelo menos uma região reforçada extensível (15), a borda ou bordas lateral de topo (3 la) da segunda camada (31) sendo arranjada essencialmente paralela à borda lateral de topo (3 Oa) da primeira (inferior) camada do painel lateral (10).
