Nos sistemas e métodos, um Administrador de Código Abreviado Universal (USC) mantém uma lista de códigos abreviados e seus status de arrendamento para que as mensagens SMS enviadas a um código abreviado em particular possam ser roteadas ao titular apropriado do código abreviado, O código abreviado poderá ser arrendado por um prazo específico de modo que o código abreviado possa ser cedido novamente após a expiração do arrendamento. Os sistemas e métodos também suportam consultas relacionadas a códigos abreviados, arrendamentos, arrendatários, e preços de uso, em particular.
