Um meio de gravação, tal como um meio de gravação ótica e/ou de alta densidade incluindo informação de segmento gravada no mesmo, e aparelho e métodos para gravar e reproduzir em/a partir do meio de gravação, para aperfeiçoar a proteção de dados, gerenciamento de dados e/ou compatibilidade de reprodução. O meio de gravação pode conter pelo menos uma área de segmento que é uma área no disco controlada por uma pluralidade dos PAC válidos e se as áreas de segmento designadas se sobrepõem mutuamente, informação de controle dos PAC respectivos que controlam a área sobreposta pode ser aplicada para controlar a área sobreposta.
