A presente invenção refere-se a um processo de concentração de minério de ferro e resíduos siderúrgicos utilizando Separadores magnéticos tipo Jones com placas matrizes de abertura maior que 3,7 mm e menor ou igual a 5,7min. Este processo permite que se amplie a capacidade de alimentação destes separadores, permite que possam ser concentrados minerais com maior granulometria e também permite que se possa alimentar materiais fortemente magnéticos, como por exemplo a magnetita, a martita e resíduos magnéticos, sem que ocorra o entupimento destas placas matrizes.
