A presente invenção refere-se a um copolímero para o uso em ou como aglutinante polimérico em revestimentos intumescentes, que compreende uma mistura de um copolímero Newtoniano e de um copolímero reticulado, os ditos copolímeros Newtoniano e reticulados consistindo em estireno substituído e acrilato substituído e compreendendo pelo menos p-metilestireno (PMS) e acrilato de 2-etilhexila (2EHA).
