Abstract
"DISCO INTERVERTEBRAL". A invenção refere-se a um disco intervertebral artificial para colocação entre vértebras adjacentes. O disco intervertebral artificial é, de preferência, projetado para restaurar altura de disco e lordose, permitir faixa natural de movimento, absorver choque e prover resistência à movimento e compressão axial. Além disso, o disco intervertebral (10) pode ser suado nas regiões cervical, torácica, ou lombar da espinha. O disco intervertebral artificial pode incluir, singularmente ou em combinação: um interior (19) pelo menos parcialmente carregado com um fluido (22); uma válvula (20) para injetar fluido no interior do disco; uma região central tendo uma rigidez de preferência, maior do que a rigidez das regiões externas, possibilitando, assim, que o disco pivote ao redor da região central. O pivô central pode ser formado por uma abertura central (108), uma câmara central (162), um núcleo interno ou um cabo central (258).
