A presente invenção refere-se a um composto de pirimidina de fórmula (1) onde R^ 1^ é C~ 3~ - C~ 7~ alquinila; R^ 2^ é hidrogênio, halogênio ou C~ 1~ - C~ 3~ alquila; e R^ 3^ é C~ 1~ - C~ 8~ alquila que pode ser substituída com halogênio ou C~ 1~ - C~ 3~ alCóXi, ou C~ 3~ - C~ 6~ cicloalquila (que pode ser substituída com halogênio ou C~ 1~ - C~ 3~ alquila) C~ 1~ - C~ 3~ alquila; uma composição pesticida compreendendo o composto de pirimidina como ingrediente ativo; e um método para controlar pragas compreendendo aplicar o composto de pirimidina às pragas ou aos habitats das pragas.
