Um objeto cilíndrico, oco, de 6,18 cm de diâmetro, com a superfície lateral constituída por um anel rígido, com 1 a 1,5 cm de altura, com uma cobertura de papel , tecido, ou outro material fino e maleável , envolvendo a superfície lateral (quando for necessário para efeito de fixação) e tampando uma das bases, deixando a outra aberta Este objeto pode ser encaixado em um bocal de telefone público, evitando o contato ou aspiração de microorganismos presentes neste último sem atrapalhar a propagação da voz.
