"COMPOSTO, COMPOSIÇÃO, USO DE UM COMPOSTO, E, MÉTODOS PARA O TRATAMENTO DE UMA CONDIÇÃO PROLIFERATIVA, PARA O TRATAMENTO DE CÂNCER E DE UMA CONDIÇÃO MEDIADA PELA TIOREDOXINA/TIOREDOXINA REDUCTASE, PARA INIBIR A TIOREDOXINA/TIOREDOXINA REDUCTASE EM UMA CÉLULA, IN VITRO OU IN VIVO E, PARA REGULAR E INIBIR A PROLIFERAÇÃO CELULAR". Esta invenção diz respeito a certos compostos de 4-(1(sulfonil)-1H-indol-2-il)-4-(hidróxi)-ciclo-hexa-2,5-dienona e seus análogos, incluindo os compostos da fórmula seguinte, que são, inter alia, agentes antiproliferativos, agentes anticâncer e/ou inibidores da tioredoxina/tioredoxina reductase: fórmula (I) em que: Ar é um grupo 1-(sulfonil)-1H-indol-2-ila; a ligação marcada é independentemente: (a) uma ligação simples; ou: (b) uma ligação dupla; a ligação marcada é independentemente: (a) uma ligação simples; ou: (b) uma ligação dupla; o grupo -OR^ o^ é independentemente: (a) -OH; (b) um grupo éter (por exemplo, -OMe); ou: (c) um grupo acilóxi (isto é, éster reverso) (por exemplo, -OC(=O)Me); cada um de R^ 2^, R^ 3^, R^ 5^, R^ 6^, é independentemente um substituinte do anel e é: (a) H; (b) um substituinte monodentado monovalente; ou: (c) um substituinte do anel que, junto com um substituinte do anel adjacente e junto com os átomos do anel aos quais estes substituintes do anel estão ligados, formam um anel fundido; e sais, ésteres, amidas, solvatos, hidratos e suas formas protegidas farmaceuticamente aceitáveis. A presente invenção também diz respeito às composições farmacêuticas que compreendem tais compostos e ao uso de tais compostos e composições, tanto in vitro quanto in vivo, por exemplo, no tratamento de condições proliferativas, (por exemplo, câncer) e/ou condições mediadas pela tioredoxina/ tioredoxina reductase.
