A presente invenção refere-se a um composto de carbapenem representado pela fórmula (I ): em que cada símbolo é como definido no relatório descritivo, e um agente antibacteriano contendo este composto como um ingrediente ativo são proporcionados. O composto de carbapenem da presente invenção é superior em capacidade de absorção a partir do trato gastro-intestinal, por administração oral, e extremamente útil para a profilaxia ou tratamento de doenças infecciosas (particularmente, doenças infecciosas bacterianas).
