A presente invenção diz respeito a formulações farmacêuticas que compreendem um beta-bloqueador, em uma dose de manutenção menor do que 50 mg, particularmente na faixa de 25 a 47 mg, opcionalmente contendo um agente de redução do colesterol, em mistura com um adjuvante, diluente ou veiculo farmaceuticamente aceitáveis, bem como a um método de tratamento e uso das formulações para o tratamento da aterosclerose e doenças relacionadas.
