É descrito um mancal liso, o mancal sendo instalado, em uso, em um alojamento de mancal associado, as costas do mancal em contato com o alojamento sendo substancialmente co-extensivas com o alojamento na direção axial, em que a superfície de rolamento do mancal é rebaixada em ambas as direções axial e radial, de modo a reduzir a área de superfície de contato de mancal com um encosto de eixo associado em uso.
