Compostos de acordo com fórmula (1), onde R^ 1^ é H ou CN, X^ 1^ é S, O, SO~ 2~ ou CH~ 2~, X^ 2^ é CO, CH~ 2~ ou uma ligação covalente, Het é um heterocicio contendo nitrogênio e n é 1-5 são novos. Os compostos da invenção são inibidores de dipeptidil peptidase IV. Composições farmacêuticas dos compostos da invenção, ou sais farmaceuticamente aceitáveis dos mesmos, são úteis no tratamento de, inter alia, diabetes tipo 2.
