Um catalisador em processos de carbonilação para a produção de ésteres, ácidos carboxílicos, e anidridos de ácido carboxílico a partir de álcoois de alquila inferior, éteres, ésteres, derivados produtores de álcool. O catalisador inclui um metal cataliticamente ativo selecionado dos metais do Grupo VIII, suas misturas de estanho associadas com um copolímero de divinil-benzeno-estireno polissulfonado carbonizado.
