"PROCESSO PARA A PREPARAÇÃO DE 5-CARBOXIFTALIDA E SEU USO PARA A PRODUÇÃO DE CITALOPRAM". Onde o presente invento descreve um processo para a preparação de 5-carboxiftalida, que compreende adicionar ácido tereftálico a ácido sulfúrico fumegante contendo pelo menos 20% em peso de SO~ 3~, e então adicionar formaldeído à mistura, aquecer a mistura a uma temperatura de 120 - 145 C e isolar a 5-carboxiftalida da mistura de reação.
