A invenção refere-se a um processo para produção de ésteres de ácido carboxílico por reação de ácidos dicarboxílicos ou policarboxílicos ou seus anidridos com álcoois, sendo que a água de reação é removida com o álcool por destilação azeotrópica e a quantidade de líquido removida da reação pela destilação azeotrópica é novamente completada, totalmente ou parcialmente, com o álcool.
