Abstract
"MÉTODO PARA OXIDAR COMPOSTOS AROMÁTICOS DE ALQUILA A ÁCIDOS AROMÁTICOS EM UM MEIO AQUOSO". A presente invenção refere-se a um método melhorado para oxidar compostos aromáticos substituídos (tais como p-xiloeno) a seus correspondentes ácidos aromáticos (tais como ácido tereftálico). O melhoramento envolve realizar a reação de oxidação em um meio aquoso, sendo que o meio aquoso contém pelo menos 30 por cento de água, preferivelmente até 30 por cento de tensoativo e preferivelmente um material de baixo peso molecular contendo um grupo terminal hidrofílico como um co-tensoativo. A reação é realizada a um pH de menos que 3,0.
