Abstract
"PROCESSO DE PURIFICAÇÃO DE FITOESTERÓIS A PARTIR DE FONTES DERIVADAS DE PLANTA OU MADEIRA E COMPOSIÇÕES RESULTANTES DESTE". Um processo universal para purificar fitoesteróis a partir de uma fonte derivada de planta ou madeira que compreende extrair da fonte um extrato concentrado compreendendo fitoesteróis e um hidrocarboneto; complexar um extrato assim formado com um sal metálico; separar o complexo de fitoesterol/sal metálico do hidrocarboneto; lavar o complexo com uma mistura de solvente compreendendo um ou ambos de um hidrocarboneto e uma acetona; hidrolisar o complexo lavado assim formado e finalmente separar os fitoesteróis deste. Uma nova composição compreende beta-sitosterol, campesterol, campestanol, sitostanol e opcionalmente brassicasterol e brassicastanol.
