Um intercalador no qual um quadro de dados a ser intercalado é armazenado em pelo menos uma porção de um arranjo tendo R linhas e C colunas, a porção tendo N~ r~^ ( )^ linhas e N~ c~^ ( )^ colunas que satisfazem a desigualdade N~ r~^ ( )^ x N~ c~^ ( -1)^ )^ x N~ c~^ ( )^ onde N~ c~^ ( ) é um número primo e N~ c~^ ( -1) é o número primo mais alto menor do que N~ c~^ ( )^. Os elementos de cada linha são permutados de acordo com uma relação matemática predeterminada e as linhas são permutadas de acordo com o mapeamento predeterminado.
