A combinação de um íon de cromo e um íon de ácido carboxílico selecionado do grupo consistindo de um íon de formiato, um íon de malato, e um íon de fumarato é um suplemento alimentício efetivo para animais ruminantes e melhora seu ganho de peso, sua eficiência da alimentação, sua composição corporal, e sua produção de leite.
