Seu funcionamento inicia-se pelo movimento das ondas do mar deslocando verticalmente as haste de sustentação (letra - B), apoiados em bóias nadadeiras (letra - A) , fazendo com que acione bombas hidráulicas (letra - D) , para que com pressão movimente o motor hidráulico (letra - H) que por sua vez aciona o gerador de alta tensão (letra - K).
