Refere-se a um produto de uso exclusivamente médico, mais específicamente, em partos, visto tratar-se de uma peça destinada a cortar o cordão umbilical. O modelo é descartável e apresentado em embalagens individuais e previamente esterilizados evitando o contato direto com a peça, o que certamente diminui o risco de qualquer possível contaminação. O grampo, por ser uma peça descartável dispensa a esterilização após o uso, ou antes.
