A presente invenção está relacionada a um processo para separar misturas de álcoois com alto teor de água usando um solvente de extração. Em particular, a presente invenção é direcionada a um processo para a extração líquido-líquido de uma mistura de álcoois C2-C3 ou C2-C4 a partir de uma mistura de álcoois C2-C3 ou C2-C4 e água com um solvente de extração, onde o solvente de extração é selecionado a partir de isobutiraldeído e uma mistura de n-pentano/dimetil acetal.
