A presente invenção refere-se a um método para processar um material plástico em que o material plástico é processado com um laser e, portanto modificado ou desreticulado. O material plástico é então irradiado para novamente reticular pelo menos parcialmente o material plástico. A invenção também se refere a um material plástico, em particular um implante ocular ou uma lente intraocular, que tem pelo menos uma região na qual o material plástico foi vaporizado com um laser, e esta região foi novamente tratada para reticular novamente o material plástico.
