O sistema é configurado para fornecer um aerofólio que tem uma borda de ataque e uma borda de fuga, um ventilador de fluxo cruzado parcialmente incorporado no aerofólio e montado adjacente à borda de fuga do aerofólio e um duto de saída para o ventilador de fluxo cruzado para fornecer fluxo distribuído ao longo da borda de fuga do sistema para alcançar elevada eficiência propulsiva em voo para a frente e um jato substancialmente vertical para decolagem e pouso verticais.
