O tanque é preenchido com material de lastro que complementa ou substitui o lastro já presente na estrutura flutuante, ganhando assim maior capacidade de carga útil de topsides para a estrutura flutuante ou aumentando a estabilidade e o desempenho de movimento da estrutura flutuante.
