Um dispositivo exemplificativo inclui dedos que são ajustáveis longitudinalmente e configurados para agarrar uma peça de trabalho. Um mecanismo de aperto ou travamento pode ser usado para prender os dedos nas posições longitudinais desejadas. Nos exemplos, um componente de retenção é disposto através dos dedos e é configurado para reter os dedos nas direções laterais.
