A presente invenção refere-se a um polipeptídeo solúvel compreendendo uma glicoproteína modificada V (GPV) que carece de um domínio de transmembrana funcional para uso no tratamento ou prevenção de uma doença trombótica em um indivíduo, o referido tratamento ou prevenção compreendendo administrar ao indivíduo uma quantidade eficaz do referido polipeptídeo solúvel.
