Abstract
Um filtro formado essencialmente a partir de uma fibra descontínua é fornecido. Uma fibra descontínua não-tecida é comprimida em uma esteira ou folha de porosidade selecionada. A esteira ou folha não inclui um aglutinante ou fibras de bicomponentes. As fibras descontínuas podem ser tratadas termicamente. A folha é formada em uma forma geométrica selecionada e as fibras são termicamente fundidas para unir as fibras descontínuas em um elemento de filtração poroso. A forma preferida é um tubo enrolado helicoidalmente ou várias folhas, sendo cada folha sobreposta e comprimida para sobrepor outra folha. Cada folha é, de preferência, aquecida e comprimida individualmente e as folhas podem ser selecionadas para terem diferentes porosidades e densidades.
