Um dispositivo de contenção de pressão que compreende um elemento de vedação tendo um eixo geométrico longitudinal e uma seção transversal perpendicular a seu eixo geométrico longitudinal que é geralmente anular, o elemento de vedação tendo assim uma superfície interior voltada radialmente para dentro, uma superfície exterior voltada radialmente para fora, e uma superfície de extremidade que se estende a partir da superfície interior para a superfície exterior, em que tanto a superfície interior e a superfície de extremidade são providas com uma pluralidade de rebaixos discretos.
