Abstract
A função imunológica de um animal pode ser modulada pela administração de uma composição que inclui refeição de algas ou beta glucan. A refeição de algas pode ser feita cultivando Euglena usando métodos e condições particulares, incluindo certosmétodos contÃnuos, semi-contÃnuos, por alimentação de lotes e por repetição de lotes em fermentadoras estéreis. A Euglena provê uma forma de beta glucan que é diferente de outros organismos, em que o beta glucan é predominantemente beta1,3-glucan não ramificado. O uso de refeição de algas e beta glucan produzido pelos processos revelados pode melhorar o bem-estar de um animal ou humano, e pode aumentar ou mesmo substituir o uso de antibióticos em certas circunstâncias.
