PROCESSO PREPARAR CARCOXIMETIL CELULOSE, CARBOXIMETIL CELULOSE E USO DE CARBOXIMETIL CELULOSEA invenção é direcionada a um processo para preparar carboximetil celulose compreendendo as etapas de (a) reagir celulose não regenerada com um a agente de alcalinização da presença de água e álcool isopropÃlico e (b) reagir a celulose alcalizada com ácido monohaloacético ou um sal deste, sendo que 1,0 a 1,6 moles dos agente de alcalinizaçõa e 15 a 30 moles de água são usados na etapa (a) e 0,5 a 0,8 mol de ácido monohaloacético ou sal deste são usados na etapa (b), cada qual com base em 1 mol de unidade de anidroglicose de celulose. A invenção Também se refere a carboximetil celulose preparada por aquele processo.
