Um substrato revestido com bioativo inclui um substrato de base, uma primeira camada intermediária disposta sobre o substrato de base, uma camada de bioativo mais externa disposta sobre a primeira camada intermediária e uma camada de revestimento superior disposta sobre a camada de bioativo mais externa. Caracteristicamente, uma pluralidade de aberturas microscópicas, que se estende através da camada de revestimento superior e da camada de bioativo mais externa, expõe a primeira camada intermediária e a camada de bioativo mais externa. Um método para formar o substrato revestido com bioativo também é proporcionado.
