A presente invenção refere-se a um processo de obtenção de nanocompósitos auto-suportadosa base de fosfato de cério fibroso (CeP)-e nanoestruturas de carbono funcionalizadas (NEO-FUNC). Tais nanocompósitos apresentam diversas aplicações que incluem, mas não se limitam a processos de remediação/tratamento de águas/efluentes/resfduos aquosos contaminados com lons metálicos e poluentes ambientais em geral
