Mark description
The mark consists of a dark gray shield enclosed in a yellow border, the shield having the words "ST. JOHN" in yellow across the top and "FIRE E.M.S." in yellow across the bottom, with "FIRE" descending at an angle along the bottom left border of the shield, and "E.M.S. ascending at an angle along the bottom right border of the shield. In the center of the shield are two axes crossing each other, the axes having tan and brown handles and red heads with white and light gray blades facing away from each other. Superimposed on top of the axes is a white cross enclosed in a thin, inner tan border and a slightly thicker outer red boarder. An image of a red and white fire hydrant appears in the left portion of the cross, and an image of a tan ladder crossing a gray hook pike with a tan handle appears in the right portion of the cross. In the center of the cross is a white circle enclosed in three border lines, the innermost and outermost border lines both being dark gray and thinner, and the middle border line being red and thicker than the dark gray border lines. On the white circle appears, stacked from the background to the foreground, an inverted, vertical, light and dark gray talking trumpet; on which is overlaid horizontally a downfacing axe with a tan and brown handle and a red head with a white and light gray blade; on which is overlaid a tan ladder and a black hook pike with a tan handle crossed as an X; on which is overlaid horizontally a red fire helmet; all of which are centered in the middle of the white circle. The black rectangle represents background, outlining, shading, and/or transparent area and is not part of the mark.
