The mark consists of Two line octagon with circle inside , letters "New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology ~ 1889 ~," white letters on black, around circle; crest divided into 6 parts inside circle with zia sun symbol intersecting top of crest and circle; shovel, pick and mallet, white on black, inside crest upper left; 3 cloud semi circles and water drop over horizontal line with lightning, black on white, inside crest upper right; letters "NMT" with top of "T" over letters "NM" and set of nested arrows pointing up, down, left and right and line below all, black on white, inside crest middle left; 3 leaf plant on horizontal bar scalloped on underside and fish below, white on black, inside crest middle right; partially filled beaker at 90 degrees over drop, partially filled test tube and partially filled beaker, white on black, inside crest lower left; and derrick with vertical pipe/line extending below derrick into ground/subsurface (below horizontal line) with mountains in background, black on white, inside crest lower right.
