The shield design component of the mark consists of a shield shaped design with an uppermost field containing the letters "VE-RI-TAS" within a series of three open book shaped devices, surrounded by a series of vertical lines. In the lower field of the design is a fanciful, dark "X" shaped device with wavy peripheral boundary lines within which "X" shaped device are five fanciful, flower-like devices composed of five-finger like, downward pointing petals and two tear-shaped dot devices, each located on either side of the upper portion of each flower-like device.
