The mark consists of an academic seal with a thin outline with the word "SPARTANBURG" located at the top left portion of the seal, and on the top right portion is the word "METHODIST". A dot appears on the left and right bottom portion of the seal with the word "COLLEGE" at the bottom center with a thin border on the inside and outside of the words. The words "DEUS PROVIDET" appear at the top center portion with the numerals "1911" at the bottom center portion, an arch is located in the center portion of the seal with the words "TOIL" appearing at the bottom of the left side column, and the word "CULTURE" appearing at the bottom of the right side column, the word "MANUAL" appears running down the left column and the word "MENTAL" appears running down the right column, at the center portion of the arch is a cross and a flag inside a rhombus shape outlined with two thin borders, on the left side of the rhombus the word "CHRISTIAN" appears, and on the right side of the rhombus the word "CHARACTER" appear. Inside the arch are broken up lines to represent sun rays located at the top left side with a textile mill located below and to the right of the rays which is nestled in a cotton field with cotton bolls extending out underneath a torch of learning located on the left side of the arch and underneath a distaff located at the right side of the arch.
